On Tuesday: I'd Rather Sleep Outside

"It is in the shelter of each other that the people live."
-- Irish proverb

Your eyes pick them up, your conscience blurs them out of focus. If you don't acknowledge them maybe they wont ask you....for change. For a nation in despair there is no such thing as "spare" or "change." The nerve of them asking for dollars. Life is hard enough, and hell i dont need some no-good....

A man sitting at a chessboard alone. His eyes wonder, his beard unkept stares into a tomorrow w/o aim. His face is more tattered than his Korean War army jacket , never washed. He tries to find peace on a piece of cardboard supported by concrete. Life is this hard. Doesn't matter the season, life is this cold. Maybe that's why he never takes the damn jacket off.

Ever meet
eye to eye
w/ a
man w/
no home

Gotchu' feelin
Uneasy
No idea
what he’s on

He reaches
in his pocket
And Opens
up his palms

Out flies
A Butterfly
Singing
Love conquers all....

It's a long walk to rock bottom, but shit that’s where they are. It’s a short walk to the corner store, and that’s why they’re scarred. And they gon' keep gettin scarred. Long as life keeps getting hard. Cause the world blows cold, at least the 'drank' keeps em warm.

The legends of the fall
Pipes needles
and foreign wars
The walls are closing in
Park benches
like prison bars
Wine bottle telescopes
Looking at the stars
mirrors what we used to be
stories of once before
forgotten who we WERE
Forgotten who we ARE
Universal thread
Shreds
so the ROOTS
Fall apart
Middle passage
Dramatics
Alex Haley
classics
Reverse the curse
And throw
Kente’ cloaks
on the backs
Of sleeping masters
In some way we’re all homeless
In some way we’re all bastards
But in some way
We have to come together
To heal
And move past this....

You see...
“the bottom”
wont judge em
The bottles’ll
let ‘em hug em’
Temporary solutions
To dem' lifelong problems
Empathize
through my eyes
Because I was told
that’s where my spark is
A house
can't be a home
If it’s not
Where the heart lives

*note: It costs us absolutely nothing to look our less fortunate bros/sisters in their eyes and smile, to offer a blessing. It could've been you. It can still be you. Do what you'd wish someone would do if that homeless person was you. We are habitual beings who act as we are expected to, treatment someone like their dead, and death becomes them. Affirm love, perpetuate magic.

*peace 2 the heart from the heart
